Since 1993, the Greater Miami Section recognizes with The Emerging Leader Award, a person who has potential for assuming future Section leadership, understands and supports the NCJW mission and programs, demonstrates a commitment to the Section, successfully completes assigned tasks, supports Section fundraising endeavors and currently serves on the Board, but has served for less than five years, or serves as chair of a committee.
Myra Farr Volunteer Service Award
This award was established in 1980 to honor Myra Farr z”l for her many years of local service and untiring devotion to the Greater Miami Section and the National organization. This award is to be given to a person: who has been instrumental in changing the lives of others through leadership efforts and services in the GMS of NCJW; who is known for her interest, activity, and involvement on the vital issues with which NCJW is in sympathy; and who has helped to change and expand the role of other people in vital areas of NCJW concerns for at least five years, as a Greater Miami Section member.
The Hannah G. Solomon Award is given by NCJW to a person who has changed the lives of others through leadership efforts and services on a community level.
The award is given to a person: who is known for his/her interest, activity and stand on vital issues with which NCJW is in sympathy and has helped translate these issues into the community; who has helped to change and expand the role of other people in vital areas of community life; whose leadership in areas of NCJW concern has motivated others to fight for changes and has resulted in progress and enlightenment in the community
In 1993 the Greater Miami Section presented its first Corporate Hannah G. Solomon Award, following the same criteria and awarded periodically.
The Greater Miami Section created this award in 1998 at the recommendation of the Public Affairs Committee to honor women of our community for their outstanding leadership in advocacy and public affairs.
This award is presented periodically, at the discretion of the President, in recognition of the extraordinary commitment of time and effort on behalf of a new or veteran GMS member.
